All classes are in person. We are located in the Spring Valley neighborhood of NW DC, right next to American University.
We offer a 20% discount on any one class or course for new students (coupon NEWSTUDENT) and 40% discount on any one class or course for federal workers who recently lost their jobs (coupon FIREDFED). Additionally, we offer a 20% discount on any class to a former student who referred a new student. To claim this discount, email us at info@food-first.com.
If you don’t see a class you want on a schedule, please let us know! If you see a message “This appointment/series is no longer available” when trying to book, this means it is sold out. We will be offering more classes; fill out the form below or sign up for newsletter through “contact us” form to receive updates!
Finally, if you are interested in private lessons, please contact us directly at info@food-first.com. We offer a variety of customized services.
Please note that all classes are currently in-person and take place in a home setting; be advised that the home space is shared with a cat and a dog (not present during classes); email any questions to info@food-first.com.
Cancellation Policy
Our cancellation policy balances fairness to students and protection against last-minute losses to FoodFirst:
We will issue a full refund for Cooking with Confidence beginner course and Master Chef classes if you notify us at least 7 days before the scheduled class.
You will receive class credit for all cancellation between 3 and 6 days before the class (no cash refunds).
No refunds for any cancellation made less than 72 hours before the class.
No-shows are non-refundable.
Classes are transferrable; if your circumstances changed last minute and you can no longer attend the class, consider transferring it to a friend. Please notify us to ensure we can connect with your friend about food allergies.
For events, we will refund your deposit if cancelled 14 days in advance and issue a class/future event credit for the deposit if cancelled between 7 and 13 days in advance. No refund of the deposit if the event is cancelled less than 7 days before the event.
FoodFirst reserves the right to cancel any class up to 48 hours in advance if there is an insufficient number of registered students, with full refund issued to those registered.
